Virtual Meeting on Enhancing Infrastructural and Sustainable Support Frameworks and Mechanisms for Creative Communities and Enterprises

The Copyright Division, Department of Intellectual Property in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) organized a half day seminar on Enhancing Infrastructural and Sustainable Support Frameworks and Mechanisms for Creative Communities and Enterprises on October 12, 2021. 

During the meeting, the DoIP presented on the overview of the current status and future plans for the development of Copyright and Creative Industries in Bhutan. In addition, the PPD, MoEA presented on the Creative Industries Export Strategy of Bhutan (2021- 2025) and potential contributions of copyright services and activities. The key features of the strategy, implementation modalities and identified challenges were highlighted during the meeting. 

Subsequently, Director, Copyright Division, Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia shared the role of Copyright Division, Malaysia in relation to the promotion of creativity and creative enterprises. Further, a detailed presentation sharing Malaysia’s experience on the development framework, mechanisms and institutional infrastructures to support creators and creative industries were shared with the participants. 

Similarly, the Creative Economy Agency (CEA), Thailand shared their experiences with regards to the support for Creators and Creative Industries by highlighting main features of their Policies and implementation strategies. Also, Europe’s rich practice and examples of support mechanisms rendered to the growth of creators and creative micro and SMEs were highlighted during the meeting. 

A total mix of 21 participants from private and government agencies such as GNHC, Samuh, OCP, DoIP, BCCI etc. attended the meeting.
