National Copyright Award, 2021
The Department of Intellectual Property organized the first National Copyright Award on June 11, 2021. The award is conducted to fulfill the strategic objectives of the National Intellectual Property Policy 2018. Apart from providing incentives for the creators, the Department envisages to build awareness on the importance of the copyright system and encourage innovation and creativity.
The National Copyright Award for this year was focused on the music industries considering its potential, popularity and relevance in the digital era. Mr. Tandin Dorji from the Tandin Music Studio in Thimphu was awarded the cash prize. The award for other types of creative works will be organized in future.
The award function was attended by the Director General and Officials of the Department of Intellectual Property and Officials from the Bhutan Broadcasting Organization(BBS) and Bhutan Today.
